We are proud to partner with Dr. Lisa Barr as a distributor of her very own MedCBD brand. Grown and processed in Colorado, our CBD products come in a variety of forms, including both full spectrum and isolate tinctures, as well as topical salve.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, more commonly known as CBD, is one of the many phytonutrients found in the cannabis sativa plant. CBD specifically is a non-psychoactive component, and therefore does not provide the "high" associated with THC use. The tinctures and salve available for purchase in our office contain up to 0.3% THC, the legal limit for non-state regulated products. Although this is a very low percentage and should not induce any psychoactive effects, we suggest the use of isolate products for patients in military or law enforcement positions who do not want the concern of a positive drug screen.

What are the benefits of CBD?

CBD can be beneficial in many ways, including anxiety relief, aiding in sleep, relief in muscle/joint pain, and much more. When ingested sublingually, CBD can have an overall calming and relaxing effect.

Is marijuana legal in Virginia?

At this time (8/2021), both medical and recreational use are legal for Virginia adults. However, recreational dispensaries do not exist yet and will not be open until 2024 per current reports.

Virginia requires a written certification to purchase CBD/THC-A products through state-regulated pharmacies. These pharmacies sell CBD/THC-A products including edibles, vapes, and more. These products may contain up to 5% THC, a significantly higher percentage than the over-the-counter products currently available. Patients wishing to obtain a written certification must first be seen and evaluated by a provider. Your provider will then issue a written certification as appropriate.

Where can I purchase these products?

We currently sell medical-grade CBD products in our office which can be purchased without a written certification.

At this time (7/2022), pharmacies are now open in Bristol, Abingdon, Manchester, Christiansburg, Sterling, Manassas, Lynchburg, Salem, Richmond, Short Pump, Virginia Beach, and Portsmouth for cannabis products. These pharmacies are the ONLY facilities that handle CBD/THC-A products, including tinctures, edibles, and cartridges.

How do I obtain a written certification?

Written certifications will be distributed after an evaluation with a provider and the use of CBD/THC-A products is deemed appropriate. Providers can provide written certifications for a variety of diagnoses AT THEIR DISCRETION.

These consultations will be scheduled BY APPOINTMENT ONLY on Wednesdays from 2-4pm and Fridays from 3-5pm. The cost for the visit is $150 out of pocket. We require a 50% deposit at time of scheduling, with the remainder due at time of service. As of July 1, 2022, the Virginia Board of Pharmacy NO LONGER REQUIRES patients to register with them in order to purchase medical cannabis products.
